Berlin für Bibi 3 (by Tobias and Violeta)
Today we searched for something that could characterize our district Prenzlauer Berg. We went to a café on the nearby KASTANIENALLEE and waited - but nothing happened. So we moved to the seats right behind the café´s large window (a former showcase) and started to observe the people passing by. We had a perfect position (see picture) because we could sit there, behind the scaffold in front of the window, without being noticed.
And we began with one of those counting-people-games. Our two criteria were: people pushing a buggy and - to include the opposite- men at the age of more than fifty. Our game had the time-frame of 15 minutes and we counted the people on both sides of the street. Guess how many buggies passed by? 15!
And how many men over fifty? 2! One postman and one man looking like a grandfather on his way to the kindergarten to pick up his grandchildren...
That is one buggy per minute (bpm)!
What does it mean?
1. rumours of the fact that Prenzlauer Berg is the district with the highest birth-rate in town are probably right
2. you can have a really nice afternoon in counting people - if you chose interesting criteria...
